When you search about Malaysian Automobiles in Pakistan, the first name that is going to pop up on your screens is Proton. Proton is the first automobile brand in Malaysia and it has been in function since 1985. They gained further progress when Zhejiang Geely Holding Group purchased 49.9% of Proton Cars. They is now available in South East Asia, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Oceania and Europe. Proton has been providing consumers with intelligent and innovative designs. They do all of the work by themselves from designing and developing ideas and plans to prototyping, testing, manufacturing, and distributing the vehicles to the market. Proton has successfully designed, produced, and launched various vehicles including SAGA, Persona, Iriz, Exora, X50, X70, etc.
PROTON PAKISTAN:
One of Proton’s long-term plans is to establish assembly plants globally and expand its business. They want to highlight their brand among the already existing automobile companies in the world. One of Proton’s steps toward expanding its name globally was to establish an assembly plant in Pakistan.
Proton begin to achieve this goal by signing an agreement with Al-Haj Automotive in Pakistan in August 2018. Al-Haj became the official distributor of Proton Pakistan. The President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi inaugurated the assembly plant of Proton in October 2021.
Proton Plans:
of rolling out the first locally assembled CKD SAGA Sedan in 2020 but due to Covid-19 restrictions and lockdown in Malaysia, the shipments of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) parts got delayed. However, even during a hard time Proton was standing tall and continued its efforts and rolled out the first CKD SAGA Sedan in Pakistan just a month later of the delivery of the shipment from Malaysia.
There might have been some hurdles due to the restrictions but those difficulties couldn’t damage the vision and goals of Proton and its team. Proton has done its best to provide the best cars in Pakistan and satisfy the need of the buyers and consumers.
COMPLETELY KNOCKED DOWN (CKD) SAGA SEDAN IN PAKISTAN:
One of the major news related to Proton Pakistan was that it is going to be completely locally assembled. Everyone was curious about the fact that whether they were going to receive the same quality as the CBU vehicles.
Everyone was surprised to see the high quality of the CKD SAGA Sedan when it was rolled out in October 2021. Not only the quality of the CKD SAGA Sedan was up to the mark but it also offered five new features in the CKD version, which are not even present in CBU Units. The curiosity who had booked their SAGA Sedan previously was brought to rest when they saw the high quality and the new intelligent features of the CKD SAGA Sedan.
Centre Console with Armrest: The first innovative feature of CKD SAGA Sedan was that it has provided the consumers with a leatherette armrest. The armrest comes with additional storage space and it is upgraded by the addition of USB Ports in the Centre Console which enhanced the connectivity.
Front Parking Sensors: These sensors alert the driver when something gets too close and aids in situations when the parking space is too tight. These sensors ensure the safety of both the driver and passengers.
NVH Front and Rear Guard: SAGA Sedan’s another valuable upgrade is the addition of NVH Guards not only on the front of the car including the bonnet and boot of the car but also at the back of the car inside the trunk lid. This allows the passengers and driver to enjoy a pleasant, comfortable and silent ride.
NVH Guards foam installations to eliminate Noise, Vibration and Harshness occurring due to various interactions of cars.
Stabilizer Bar: The final feature includes the Stabilizer Bars also known as strut bars, which help to keep the car, balanced during taking turns and on improper roads. This feature is useful when travelling on motorways and highways with family and friends and it ensures the safety of the car and allows the driver to easily control the car.
COMPLETELY KNOCKED DOWN (CKD) X70 SUV PAKISTAN:
In January 2022 just after three months, the SAGA Sedan was launched in Pakistan CKD X70 SUV was launched. Offering various features and high quality. X70 also has an intelligent design. X70s design allows the passenger and driver to have a comfortable ride. It has all of the necessary safety features including Adaptive Cruise Control. Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitor, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Intelligent High Beam Control. The evaluation of safety of Proton X70’s features can be evaluates by its 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating.

CKD X70 has a Voice Command System “Hi Proton” which allows you to control the sunroof, air conditioning, music, etc. X70 entertains you by interacting with the drivers and passengers. Prices of Sedans and SUVs were increasing in Pakistan. But the prices of Proton’s Sedans and SUVs are still comparatively lower. Than the competitor’s Sedans and SUVs.

Proton Edar is working with Smart Automobiles which is a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and China’s Geely Group. They are going to introduce Smart EVs in Malaysia.
