Both Wix and Webflow are great options for websites, and they are both feature-rich, affordable, and easy to use. The best solution for your business depends on your requirements. This article will compare the platforms based on design capabilities, cost, maintenance, integration, and SEO.

Let’s first look at the types of businesses that could benefit from these platforms. Wix is best for small businesses. It has fundamental requirements and an easy-to-edit platform. Webflow, on the other side, is better suited for companies that want to be more sophisticated in their website design and functionality. Both offer eCommerce functionality, but neither is suitable for high-volume online sales sites. Although they can be integrated with Shopify platforms (and some businesses have done so), we recommend choosing the best forum for your specific needs. That is why neither Wix nor Webflow is recommended for high-volume eCommerce websites.

7 Wix or Webflow: Which one should you choose?

    Design Capabilities

Wix recently released Editor X, which provides advanced design and device optimization capabilities. Wix is extremely simple to use because it uses a drag-and-drop design editor. The rule is that the more options available, the more complicated a system will become, and vice versa.

Editor X offers advanced breakpoints – also provided by Webflow – which allow you to optimize for different screen sizes. You can custom edit smaller screens without affecting larger ones, and both platforms automatically optimize for multiple device sizes. However, this feature allows you to customize smaller screens to look how you want them to.

Wix allows you to drag and drop elements onto the canvas, and Webflow is more structured and allows more customization (including animation). Although Webflow is more complicated, it also provides free online tutorials and a large online community that can answer any questions you may have.

    User Experience

Because Webflow has more functionality and customization, it is more difficult to use for design. However, it is much easier to use than Wix once one is familiar with the box system. That is the hierarchy of sections within sections. (container->div box->text/image/etc.). You can control each section individually or customize them, and you’ll be able to unlock all the cool features.

The editor and project settings are the two main places that Webflow uses to organize its information. The editor contains all your pages, CMS and site hierarchy, images gallery, settings, eCommerce, and video tutorials. It also includes all your pages and your CMS. You can manage your hosting account, SEO, redirects, google analytics integration, backups, and more with the project settings.

Wix is more difficult to navigate because it is more modular. You will need to move around in the editor to find what you want, making it more difficult and slower to use. If you are using their pre-built CMS for bookings, you will need to navigate the editor to the booking system to make changes like adding people and services or changing your schedule. It’s very easy to do simple tasks, but finding your way cannot be easy once you get into the rabbit hole.

    Cost

Wix and Webflow offer affordable hosting and domain integration and provide backups and security on a monthly and yearly basis. While they are comparable to Webflow, they can be a little more expensive if your website is in the eCommerce space. Also, you will pay more if Wix offers a Content Delivery Network to improve your site’s speed or allows users to upload files to a form.

    Maintenance

Both Wix and Webflow offer hosting and security but don’t offer third-party plugins. WordPress does, however, have a marketplace.

    Integration

Wix and Webflow are not open-source, so they don’t offer plugins, and they offer the core functionality that you will need. Wix offers a wide range of integrations, so it is easy to integrate apps like your CRM or Facebook page.

These tools are fundamental and can be customized only slightly. If you need something more powerful, you will need to integrate them.

Webflow does one thing, and it does it well. You can expect them not to spread their offerings too thinly as Wix did.

WordPress plugins were a dealbreaker for a long while as they allowed maximum customization and integration. However, it wasn’t very easy and required constant maintenance. Plugins and open-source platforms offer less competition than code integration tools such as Integromat and Zapier. These integration tools can integrate Wix and Webflow with almost any other tool.

    SEO

Search engines rank websites based on many factors, including speed, user experience and relevance, domain age, traffic sources, backlinks, and other factors. etc. Website platforms only contribute to a small but important aspect of SEO. Wix and Webflow can be equally good if they are set up properly, fast and secure and offer customization of meta-descriptions, alt text, and open-graph settings. SEO’s effectiveness ultimately depends on the person who manages the SEO strategy rather than the platform.

Wix or Webflow: Which one should you choose?

Wix is the best platform for small businesses that need a simple editing interface and doesn’t care too much about aesthetics.

Webflow is the best choice if you want a website with the WOW factor without the high price tag. Webflow is a platform we see amazing things and will quickly surpass WordPress and other popular platforms.
