There are many styles of furniture available for purchase today, and Regency Style Furniture is one of those styles. While it was very popular in its day, this furniture has not been in vogue since the mid-nineteenth century. Today, however, because of the current interest in antique styles, and the desire to decorate with older, more classical furnishings, Regency Style Furniture for sale is being sought out by people interested in traditional furnishings, but who also want modern, classic looks. You can find Regency Style Furniture for sale at many online websites.

Regency Style Furniture includes such pieces as: dressers, armoires (a combination of open and enclosed armoire), headboards (vary in shape, size, material, and design), chests (also known as ‘bunds’), and even tapestries, paintings, and glass wares. Many Regency Style Furniture pieces are made with an English antique style in mind, which means they are solid wood, with detailed carvings, and may include bent joints, ring legs, and scroll work. Some Regency Style Furniture is actually quite distinctive, in that they are distinguished from other similar period pieces by their ornate, decorative carvings, which are typically hand painted, or created in gold leaf. Regency Style Furniture is made by a few different designers, but the majority are designed by either John Douglas or Thomas Henry Willcocks.

Regency Style Furniture is especially identified with the period of the Regency Period, which was an important period in the history of British royalty, in terms of fashion, design, architecture, and in interior design. Although it is now widely considered to be Victorian era furniture, during this Regency Period, it was actually a direct result of the Industrial Revolution in England, which saw an influx of highly skilled craftsmen and manufacturers. The most famous examples of Regency Style Furniture are the Queen’s Necklace, and the Regency Chairs, which were originally designed in 18th century Europe. Regency Style Furniture has become a very popular antique, particularly Regency Style Furniture chairs and Regency Style sofas, which are often used in a modern context and Regency Style Furniture for sale are easily available.
